First we want to give a huge thank you to everyone that has supported us on this venture thus far, and we want to let everyone know that we have big plans for Disc Golf Pro Store in 2010. First, we have revamped our website in effort to make it more interactive and useful. Now you can watch helpful disc golf “how to” videos on our “Disc Golf Videos” page, and be sure to check out our “Course Directory” page too. You can now click each park name for a map and directions to that specific course, and be sure to contact us and suggest your favorite local courses to be added to the directory or if you would like to trade links with our site. If you have a blog, website, twitter, myspace, facebook or whatever we want to trade links with you. We also have a weekly(or maybe every other week not sure yet) doubles tournament in the works. Stay tuned to www.DiscGolfProStore.com or our blog for more information about that very soon. We will be beefing up our inventory and spending money on advertising as well all in effort to take our disc golf store to another level and hopefully 6 month from now we will be writing to announce the opening of our shop fulltime.
Online disc/frisbee golf bag survey
We wrote a blog right before we opened our doors about 6 months ago asking what types of golf discs were the most popular and it was very helpful. So we thought we would try it again. As we stated in one of our previous posts, we have tryed selling many different types of disc golf bags in our shop. In effort to provide what the customer is looking for we would like to conduct an online survey to find out what the most popular disc golf bag types are. If you would like to participate simply leave a comment on this post stating your favorite bag brand and size. Or feel free to contact us through our site at www.DiscGolfProStore.com
What is your favorite golf disc plastic type?
Disc golf discs are changing almost as fast as the sport is growing. When I first started playing you only had 1 choice of plastic type. Things were so much easier then!! Now there are many different kinds. The 4 main plastic types for Innova are Dx,Pro, Champion and Star. Most disc companies offer a variation of all 4. In Discraft it goes Pro-D,Elite-X,Elite-Z,ESP and they even offer their FLX version for extreme hot and cold weather conditions. As for what plastic type is the best it is really a matter of opinion. Dx and Pro-D are the original type of plastic. They provide the best grip to most, but they are more prone to getting warped and even in extreme cases breaking. The Pro and Elite-X plastics are a little more durable and will take more of a beating before they warp or break. The grip on these types vary between disc brands. The Champion or Elite-Z discs are the ones that come in vibrant see through colors. They can hold up to a tremendous beating in the trees and rough before ever starting to warp or nick, and I havent seen one break yet. Although, some say they are little harder to grip. Especially if you are sweating. The Star or ESP discs are supposed to be nearly indestructible. You can run one of these dead on into a tree 100 times and it will still hold its form and keep its original flight path. They also provide a little better grip than the Champion plastics. Somewhat close to Discraft Elite-X or the original Millinneum plastic. What is your favorite golf disc plastic type? Please feel free to leave a comment explaining, and remember to stop by Disc Golf Pro Store if you are ever in The Dallas,TX area.
Disc golf bag and back pack strap review
We at Disc Golf Pro Store have been enjoying the sport for about 15 years now, and in that time we have watched the gear evolve first hand. So we wanted to throw in our 2 cents about our favorite bags and backpack straps in hopes that it might help some fellow disc golfers out there in internet land!!
We have had many types and brands of bags through our store. They generally run small holds 6-8 discs, medium holds 10-12 discs and large holds 18-20 discs. Innova, Discraft, Ching, Lightning, PDGA and DGA all make great bags, but the favorites in our shop are the Fade Gear bags. They are made with excellent quality, come in many colors, feature insulated drink holders and cost a conciderable amount less than the bigger name bags.
Believe it or not there are a few backpack straps to choose from out there now too. Innova has the cheapest strap around, but I have heard from many people that it dosent have enough padding or provide any back support. The Phoenix Quad strap has alot better padding and support, but the new DGA Gel Strapz are also getting rave reviews. So its a toss up between those 2 as to which is better. You also want to make sure your bag has a removable shoulder strap when thinking about adding a backpack strap to it, as most small bags and some medium ones do not, and it wont hook up right. Hopefully this article is helpful. Please feel free to add comments about your favorite bags and backpack straps. Also, be sure to stop by our shop if you are in the Dallas area!!

Are you stumped as to what gift to give your loved ones this holiday season? Do you want to surprise them with something new that they would never expect? Why not give them the gift of disc golf. It is a very popular and growing sport that can have you hooked from your first throw. Discs are inexpensive ranging from $8.00-$18.00 each, and most courses are in public parks and free to play on. The sport is perfect for families to enjoy and it provides an excellent source of exercise too. You can find more info about the sport at www.pdga.com or at www.youtube.com/discgolfbuzz and if you are interested in getting some gear to give the game a try please visit www.DiscGolfProStore.com I promise you will be glad you did!!

I have the disc golf mojo!!
I am not sure what is going on, but I hit another ace playing disc golf the other day. I have been playing for many years, and have never hit one, and now I have two to my credit in roughly two weeks time. My friends think I have some kind of disc golf mojo thing going on. I dont know about that, but I sure hope they keep on commin!! It was with the same disc as the other time, a 168g Champion Wraith. So maybe it is just a lucky disc. This time it was at Paschall park on hole #15, a 204ft par 3. Instead of an s drive I got a good hyzer that knifed right into the basket. It was sweet!! I guess I need to start bringing my camera with me to try to catch one on video to put on my website!!
My first disc golf ace!!
First let me start by saying its about time!! I finally nailed my first disc golf ace the other day!! I say its about time because I have been playing the sport for around 15 years. I have hit pole, basket. and chain from the tee box, but it just has never fell in for me. Until the other day that is. The ace came on the #4 hole at Debusk park in Mesquite,TX. It was a 222ft par 3. I got it with a 168g Champion Wraith. It was sweet!! When I threw it I didnt think anything as the disc started to fade right, but then it quickly flattened out for a ways and then started fading back to the left and CHING!! I could not belive it. I am glad I had my good friend, and former Pro disc golfer Robert Justice there to witness it. After all he was the one who got me started in the sport a long time ago. The cool thing was we went out for another round the next day and he aced on the 13th hole at Paschall park in Mesquite,TX. Needless to say it was a couple disc golf rounds I wont soon forget.
